Fall Portraits in Garwood, NJ
There's something truly special about capturing a friend's personality through the lens. For this portrait session, I teamed up with my good friend Kat. It was a crisp fall day and we set out to explore Garwood's charming downtown area. I wasn't quite sure where the day would take us, but we were both excited to see what hidden gems we might find.
Our first stop was the Garwood train station. This spot definitely surprised us! We found some beautiful lush greenery climbing the walls and creating a really natural green backdrop. It was the perfect place to just ease into the session and take some warm-up shots to let Kat get comfortable in front of the camera - as if she even needed it.

An Unexpected Pop of Color
We couldn't resist venturing into the train station tunnels. The industrial vibe offered a unique contrast to the natural beauty we'd just captured. The long hallways provided a perfect canvas for some creative portrait shots, playing with light and shadow to create a touch of mystery.
But the real surprise was just around the corner, literally! We stumbled upon a set of bright yellow stairs that were perfectly bathed in the warm midday sunlight. This unexpected pop of color was an absolute game-changer. We took advantage of this vibrant backdrop, capturing Kat's personality and love for everything K-Pop through a series of playful and energetic portraits. I even got to experiment with some fun Fractal Filters I purchased off of Amazon that was giving all the k-drama vibes!

Ending at the Train Station Platform
Our final exploration led us to the train station platform. The platform provided a slightly different vibe compared to our previous locations with some open air and a bit of an edgier feel. One thing I love about Kat is her style and her confidence which really shined through on these last shots.

Looking back, our portrait session in Garwood was a day filled with unexpected surprises. Every corner we turned was a unique canvas to capture the different facets of Kat's personality. It's a reminder that the perfect backdrop can be anywhere!
Just serves as a reminder - some of the most inspiring locations aren't always the most obvious ones.
